Come back to me
This figure was something of an experiment, at least in terms of the stone. It is a local stone from the Burren in County Clare, which I dug up in the garden while I was transplanting some pear trees. I was curious to see what it would be like to carve and how it would look when it was polished. This random stone had a flat base and a slope which matched the angle I wanted the figure to lie in. The stone threw up many surprises and the final polishing revealed the many tiny fissures, cracks, flaws and fossils hidden in the fabric of the stone.
